Notes from the President

Search for Newsletter Editor continues:

We are still desirous of finding a new Newsletter Editor. Current Editor Bill Budde has announced his desire to step down, and we need someone to fill his shoes. Please consider contributing your time to your society by taking on this assignment. What does it take to be a Newsletter editor? As I mentioned a month ago, the requirements are modest, but should include computer skills, internet connectivity and attention to deadlines. (See last month’s message for more details.) If interested, please contact me at rmm@sover.net. We would like to have a new newsletter editor in place in time for the November issue. If that doesn’t happen… I guess we’ll all have to wait and see!

GSV Fall Conference 2009:

The fall conference is beginning to shape up. See details of the program elsewhere on this website. The venue will be Lyndon State College in the beautiful Northeast Kingdom of Vermont. The date of 17 October will place the event right at the end of foliage season, so there should still be lots of color in the trees.

GSV Spring Conference 2010:

In the spring plans are under way for a joint meeting with the New Hampshire Society of Genealogists (NHSOG). The location and program have not yet been determined, but I am in contact with NHSOG President Hal Inglis and we are both working on that. Previous joint meetings have been great successes, and we are looking forward to a similar result this time.

Vermont History Expo 2010:

And speaking of next year, the Vermont Historical Society is already making plans for Vermont History Expo. As you may know, the popular annual event was suspended this year due to financial constraints. History buffs everywhere are eager for its return. I promise to keep you up to date on latest news of Vermont History Expo 2010.
