NERGC 2011

The next major event for GSV will be the New England Regional Genealogical Conference, in Springfield, Massachusetts, 6-10 April 2011. Brochures are current available and early bird registration ends on 15 February 2011. Check out the website www.nergc.org for more information. GSV’s featured speaker will be David Allen whose lecture entitled “Mapping Vermont in the 1850’s” will on Saturday April 9th at 10am. The lecture is about scanned reproductions of 1850s Vermont county wall maps and their origins. Discussion will include map accuracy, uses for genealogy and road research, and current map indexing efforts. Nineteenth century surveying methods and map selling procedures will be explained. Check out his website www.old-maps.com. GSV will also sponsor the luncheon, on Friday April 8th at 12 noon, featuring Laura Prescott. Her talk will be entitled “Business Secrets of Professional Genealogists: We’re Human Too!” The inside scoop on how professionals balance the abundance of files, images and clients with a scarcity of time, energy, and organizational skills. We look forward to you next spring in Springfield and check out the GSV booth in exhibit hall while you are there.
